A long weekend

Over the long weekend, Chicklet came along with us to Wisconsin, where she thoroughly enjoyed hanging out and exploring new ground. She sure is cute. I am dying for her to meet Frasier. We also enjoyed scenic views of Rock Lake and the famous Legion burgers.

Belize

Prior to working across the street from the best Belizean food in the city, I had never really even ever tasted any type of island cuisine. Fortunately, Garifuna Flava is within walking distance from us and we regularly order there for lunch or special events. Today we took several neighborhood residents there and of course, it didn’t disappoint. If Belizean food is this good, I’d love to see what the country is like. And stay at the Ka’ana Boutique Resort – it looks amazing.

Crazy cool hotels

I’m not one to notice awesome, innovative architecture when it comes to hotels. Usually I’m fine with a clean bathroom, comfy bed, AC and a TV. And free continental breakfast, of course. But when I saw photos from some really sweet hotels around the world, I couldn’t help but wonder what it would be like to stay in some of them.

Warm weather + Brazil

The warm weather this week has me dreaming of tropical getaways. Like Brazil. Kind of amazing, right? Although these high temps tend to bring out the crazies around work and violence seems to be on the uptick, I just hope this warmth is a sign of a truly toasty summer.

Phoenix, part I

A week ago today we were returning to Chicago from Phoenix, reminiscing about the warm weather and well, the warm weather. Traveling to Phoenix was the first time I had been to the Southwest, and hopefully not my last. The weather was ideal, the people were kind, the city was clean, the scenery was gorgeous. But I can honestly say that as nice of a place as Phoenix is, it was no Chicago. In all its glory and grit, Chicago is a real city and Phoenix just can’t compare to that.
