A few days ago Josh, Chick and I welcomed a tiny houseguest into our apartment. Her name is Millie and she is a sweet rescue pup from the city shelter. She is an OTAT pupĀ (of course) that we are fostering and so far she and Chick are getting quite good at tolerating one another:)

Another pup, same shelter, same city
After loving on this sweet pup last weekend, I headed back to the shelter yesterday and this time fell for a little Chihuahua pup named Snickers that reminded me so much of a young Chick, but with bigger ears:)
The city shelter in Chicago is not an easy place to go to, but it is so, so worth it. The time you spend with each dog, even if it’s only for 15 minutes, is time well spent. It’s 15 less minutes that they have to be in their cages. Saturday well spent, right? RIGHT.
Those ears…
On Saturday I stumbled across this cutie at Chicago Animal Care and Control and I can’t stop thinking about him. Or about how much fun it would be for Chick to have a friend. This little guy, Snickers, made it on to the Adoptable floor at CACC, which is good news for him. He was so calm and so sweet when I took him out of his cage. I saw on his card that he was found as a stray near 77th and Ingleside, but he was a little plump, which makes me wonder if he was in a home at some point. I try hard not to make judgements about how an animal makes it into the shelter (sometimes a family really, truly has to choose between a pet and paying rent), but how many others are there because they’re no longer wanted? Snickers was eager for my pieces of cheese, took them so sweetly and was just happy to be held. There is nothing more rewarding than rescuing and adopting a pet.
