Marco? Polo!

Polo (image)
Last weekend I headed to Chicago Animal Care and Control for what I thought was a meet and greet for a potential foster pup. She was a tiny chihuahua mix named Gracie. But by the time I had arrived she had already been transferred to another rescue (yay!).

So instead I hung out with this sweet pup in the photo above. His name is Polo and he was so lovely. When I first saw him he looked so, so sad in his cage. He is about six years old and an owner surrender, so probably pretty confused about why he was there. Once I took him outside, he was so happy and loved being in the fresh air. He’s available for adoption, if anyone is looking:)

Those ears…

Snickers the dog (image)
On Saturday I stumbled across this cutie at Chicago Animal Care and Control and I can’t stop thinking about him. Or about how much fun it would be for Chick to have a friend. This little guy, Snickers, made it on to the Adoptable floor at CACC, which is good news for him. He was so calm and so sweet when I took him out of his cage. I saw on his card that he was found as a stray near 77th and Ingleside, but he was a little plump, which makes me wonder if he was in a home at some point. I try hard not to make judgements about how an animal makes it into the shelter (sometimes a family really, truly has to choose between a pet and paying rent), but how many others are there because they’re no longer wanted? Snickers was eager for my pieces of cheese, took them so sweetly and was just happy to be held. There is nothing more rewarding than rescuing and adopting a pet.
