This week felt particularly long and I’m happy that it’s finally Friday (and that this lovely fall weather is continuing). Do you have fun plans for the weekend? We’re learning how to become volunteers for the Safe Humane Court Case Dog Program at Animal Care and Control tomorrow.
The program was designed to specifically help court case dogs (dogs who have been relinquished voluntarily or by the court from their defendant owners charged with animal abuse or neglect). Dogs who are part of the program are in desperate need of socialization, training and enrichment. Some of them have spent years (!) in a shelter environment. I’m excited to learn more, but I’ve heard it can be a real tear-jerker.
On Sunday we’re headed to the Fall Harvest Festival on Grand Avenue with our Little Brother. There’s no playground, but it’s free so fingers crossed that he has a good time. Enjoy your weekend, everyone!
PS: Remember when I couldn’t decide which jacket to get for little Chick? I ended up going with something totally different, and it’s arriving today! Pictures to come soon.

While the first official day of fall was last week, I’ve been excited for a while now. I’m happy to keep the windows open, to take long walks without melting and enjoy a pumpkin spice latte (of course). I’m not sure what it is about this season, but as bittersweet as it is to say goodbye to summer, I’m always content to welcome this cozy, colorful, crisp season.

I am nothing if not a bag lady. I’m constantly carrying around a bag much bigger than I need. Finding the right everyday carryall can be tough, but there’s something undeniably chic about carrying around this simple canvas tote with a custom silhouette of your favorite pup. These Le Papier Studio totes are 100% cotton, washable and you can either choose a silhouette from their illustration set or create your own custom one from a photo. And at $30, they’re actually affordable:)
Note: this is not a sponsored post. I just think these are cute!
While it felt like the better part of the weekend was spent in the car, the wedding we attended on Saturday was lovely. It was my first time visiting La Crosse, Wis. and I have to say it is quite a charming city along the Mississippi River (which is awfully mighty, as they say). The best part though, was having one excited Chick greet us upon our return.

This weekend we’ll be heading up to LaCrosse, Wisconsin for a friend’s wedding. Unfortunately, Chick won’t be able to attend so she is off to visit with Ginger and my mom. If she were coming though, I’d completely expect her to attend the wedding with me, obviously. Have a good weekend, friends!

The first day of fall is just days away, which means sweater weather is right around the corner. That means Chick needs a new coat and I’m torn. So I’m asking you all: which jacket do you like best? The Nor’easter dog blanket coat or the suede shearling? Both seem to have decent reviews and both are reasonably priced. What do you think? Yay or nay? Neither? Both? Clearly I’m in need of some guidance.

Before little Chick came along I had a thing for big dogs. While I’ve learned how fun small dogs can be, I still get giddy with giant pups that more closely resemble moose (thank you Fray and Gin). But I was not prepared when I saw this gentle giant. This big guy named Zeus is officially the tallest dog in the world, according to the Guinness Book of World Records. When standing on his hind legs, he measures over seven feet tall. Kind of ridiculous, no?
