“Happiness is a warm puppy” -Charlie Brown to Snoopy

After graduating from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2010, I moved back to Chicago to start a new job. I studied Journalism and Spanish in school, but really the best job I’ve ever had is being a dog walker.

I’ve since been a part of the nonprofit world, but now work for one of the best corporate real estate companies around.

The biggest joys of my life, however, have been being the owner to some pretty wonderful pups. Thankfully my parents were dog lovers and I’ve grown up with a pooch by my side. There was Buffy, the rescue pup who came before me, the stray dog Bonnie that my dad brought home two years before I was born, then Frasier and Ginger, the two gorgeous sibling husky mixes who came along in fifth grade and just recently passed, and finally Chicklet, who Josh and I adopted in 2012.

One of the greatest joys of my life is taking part in animal rescue work. I’m currently the Volunteer Coordinator for One Tail at a Time, the wonderfully awesome rescue that Chicklet came from. The people I’ve met through OTAT are some of the kindest and hard-working people you’ll find.

If you have a freelance opportunity or a silly/touching photo of your furry canine companion that you think I’d like, e-mail me at caitlin.gath@gmail.com.
