A day at the beach

With the scorching heat consuming the city over the weekend, it was the perfect opportunity to check out the Montrose Dog Beach with Chicklet. I first went there last summer with Frasier and Josh when my uncle was in town, and Frasier loved it. While Chicklet was even more weary of the water than Frasier, she did enjoy lounging in the sand before pooping out rather quickly. It’s tough being a small pup. Upon our return, everyone on our block was enjoying their own fun: with a busted fire hydrant. I had never seen one before and we couldn’t stay away, despite the wastefulness. Sigh.

Time traveling

The other day a neighbor shared these old photos of what our building used to look like years and years ago. We live in what was once a chair and wood carving factory … that he says used to supply the world with Schwinn bicycles and Lincoln Logs [Ed: I couldn’t confirm those facts, but it seemed too neat not to include]! How cool. I couldn’t get enough of these photos. The building looks almost exactly the same and it’s so strange that it’s now filled with condos. Can you believe it? I wish I could have seen it back in the day. You can read more here.

The shipping and receiving garage in the top photo is now an alley where I park my car!

A new accessory

I swear I’m not someone who carries their dog in a bag, but I couldn’t help but try it with Chicklet. She was a good sport and let me carry her all the way down to the car like this. I can’t believe she fits in my bag:)

Weekend in photos

On Saturday this little Chicklet arrived, and she is just the cutest. We’ve completely welcomed her into the apartment and I can only hope she loves being here as much as we love having her. While I’ve had to get used to being around such a tiny pup, she has been so well behaved. I hope she sticks around a while:)

A little Chicklet

After the tragedy that was saying goodbye to Paige, I didn’t think I’d be ready to meet another dog anytime soon. Plus, it sort of felt like cheating on Ginger and Frasier. But then I came across this little dog named Chicklet, from the rescue organization, One Tail at a Time. This shelter doesn’t actually have a shelter space — all of their available animals stay with foster families until they’re ready to be adopted. The volunteers are wonderfully nice and after an initial introduction last week, Chicklet will be arriving at Apartment 310 TOMORROW for a two-week foster period. If after two weeks it seems like she’s happy with us, we’ll make it official! I can’t wait for Frasier to meet her:)
