Every species

Have you ever thought about how many different animal species there are on Earth? I never really have, until I saw this article about a National Geographic photographer who has made it his goal to photograph every species in zoos and aquariums around the world. Joel Sartore is hoping to bring attention to many species who are already endangered, through his venture called the Biodiversity Project. Pretty neat, right?

Getting better

Resting, just like this pup.
I’m supposed to be leaving for Phoenix tomorrow evening for a marketing conference specifically for nonprofits. I’m excited to attend, which is why I’m hoping against hope my sore throat goes away. And stays away! Go away, sore throat! Just go away.

A short trip

A week from today I should be on my way to (hopefully) sunny Phoenix for a work training. I’ve never flown anywhere alone where there wasn’t someone waiting for me upon my arrival, so this should be interesting. I’ll have to make my way from the airport to the hotel and to the conference center the next morning, all on my own. Yeesh. Fortunately, Josh will be joining for the weekend and we’ll be able to explore the city. So far spring training, a Suns game and the zoo are the only things on our list. Suggestions?

Weekend in photos

This weekend saw a quick road trip to Lake Mills, Wis. It was a relaxing few days filled with a Badger basketball game, lots of lounging around and a trip to a new favorite restaurant (Timber Creek Pizza Co!) Plus, I managed to sneak in a quick 30-minute visit with Frasier.

Strange behaviors

A year ago today there was a massive blizzard. Snow was piled as high as me for weeks. It was kind of insane, as winters go. But today it felt more like April than February. And yesterday it was so warm, I almost didn’t need a coat. I’m not complaining or anything, but this weather is starting to scare me. Chicago doesn’t get weather like this in the middle of winter. But whatever tricks Mother Nature is trying to pull, I’m okay with it because it has me thinking about places like this.
