A weekend in photos

What began with drinks, pizza and friends at Gullivers Pizza, turned into a relaxing weekend that ended with making my much anticipated zucchini cake for the very first time. Verdict: it basically tastes like zucchini bread. Oops.

Missed you Seebs! (And Bets and Caitlin and Mons!)

It had been far too long since my last Dunkin’ Donuts blueberry muffin.

Thanks for the tamales, Gramps!

10 years later

On September 11, 2001 I was in 8th grade. As media coverage of the tenth anniversary of 9/11 has grown, it has made me realize how much I was unable to grasp on that fateful day. So in the last few days, I’ve read and learned more than I have in the past 10 years. While I was lucky enough to not know anyone who was killed that day, I’ve grieved for the victims with each story I’ve read.

Below, a small compilation of the stories that touched me the most.

“When I despair, I remember that all through history the way of truth and love have always won. There have been tyrants and murderers, and for a time, they can seem invincible, but in the end, they always fall. Think of it–always.”

Marshmallow delights

I had been wanting to try this recipe for quite a while, simply because it seemed like the perfect treat to make when you don’t have a lot of time. While I certainly didn’t need more than half an hour from start to finish, these marshmallow delights were decidedly average.

Although it was fun wrapping up each marshmallow inside the dough, all I really ended up with was a cinnamon sugar biscuit. Warm, gooey and yummy, but not so exciting. The best part though: easy clean-up. There’s nothing better than a clean kitchen; and yet you’d be surprised how many people don’t share this view.

Check out the recipe here.

Who doesn’t love a jumbo marshmallow? These were WAY too big for my tiny crescent rolls and needed to be cut into fourths.

A weekend in photos

Filled with only a few false leads on the two pups I found last week, the weekend was split between spreading the word and enjoying the cheese state.
