These 21 photos that will restore your faith in humanity have been circulating the web for the past few days, but I only just got around to looking at them yesterday. I was especially touched by the photos of a woman whose dog was swept into the bay in Australia. A complete stranger who saw the scene unfold jumped right in to save the pup. What a moment.

Bath time

There’s nothing better than a clean pup, and since Chicklet’s wretched cone of shame finally came off yesterday, her first outing was to the Logan Square Soggy Paws (one of the best do it yourself doggie washes I’ve been to). Since Chick is so small we get a discount and she’s easy to hold down while the other washes (not such the case with Frasier:). We were in and out in less than a half hour, complete with strawberry lemonade cologne for Chick, all for just $10; just in time for Take your Dog to Work Day!

Not so much

I’m not into baseball so much (as seen here), but it’s no secret that I love a good vintage photo so as I was waiting for two pesky Cubs tickets to arrive in the mail, I came across these old school photos of Comiskey Park (U.S. Cellular Field). My favorite is the one above with Al Capone.

Happy Trails

This past Saturday I explored one of my favorite Chicago neighborhoods: Little Italy. Although it isn’t like it used to be (see above), this little neighborhood nestled on the Near West Side of the city, is still filled with old-school restaurants (the original Rosebud’s, Francesca’s) and picturesque tree-lined streets. And on Saturday: Frasier and Chicklet too. My dad and I took these two pups on a Happy Trails walk (courtesy of One Tail at a Time) and even though Fraiser pooped out because of the heat and Chicklet needed to be carried most of the way, it was still a fun time.

Sandwiches + States

Sandwiches are by far my most favorite food. So when I came across this design project called Stately Sandwiches, where one girl sets out to make the sandwich for each state, I was hooked. It sounds like the perfect excuse to try a new sandwich every week. The sandwich for Illinois: Italian beef. Pretty spot on. Although I’d be down to try the California too:)
