I am a sucker for collecting books. But the space they take up can be daunting; even though there is nothing more inviting and cozy than shelves upon shelves of well-read and comforting books. The warm weather this week has me dreaming of tropical getaways. Like Brazil. Kind of amazing, right? Although these high temps tend to bring out the crazies around work and violence seems to be on the uptick, I just hope this warmth is a sign of a truly toasty summer.

Besides doing some exploring and admiring the Southwestern scenery, I also managed to enjoy a thoroughly sports-filled weekend while in Phoenix. Not only did I attend two Phoenix Suns games, but I also made it to a spring training Brewers game; where I promptly snoozed in the sun and enjoyed a $6 order of nachos. But my favorite excursion: the Phoenix Zoo. Seriously the best zoo I’ve been to.

A week ago today we were returning to Chicago from Phoenix, reminiscing about the warm weather and well, the warm weather. Traveling to Phoenix was the first time I had been to the Southwest, and hopefully not my last. The weather was ideal, the people were kind, the city was clean, the scenery was gorgeous. But I can honestly say that as nice of a place as Phoenix is, it was no Chicago. In all its glory and grit, Chicago is a real city and Phoenix just can’t compare to that.
