Phoenix, again.

Two weeks ago Josh and I headed off to Phoenix for a wedding. The weather was HOT, the views were pretty dang cool and the wedding was lovely.

We spent our time hiking, lounging by the pool and celebrating friends. We stayed at the Royal Palms Resort, which we can’t recommend enough. I don’t think we would have stayed someplace so nice if it weren’t for such a special occasion (and hence the wedding discount), but the grounds were gorgeous.

We had a view of Camelback Mountain everywhere we went, there was desert wildlife right outside our door and a grove of orange trees.

Saying goodbye

Last week we said goodbye to my sweet gram. She passed away on Sunday evening and we spent the week celebrating her life. She had spent the past four years in a nursing home battling Alzheimer’s and we are so grateful she doesn’t have to suffer any more. But we sure will miss her.

PS: all the times that sweet Chick came with to the nursing home.

Four years later

It’s kind of hard to believe that come this fall, I will have graduated college four years ago. Part of me feels like it only just happened yesterday: I was spending my morning in class, and my afternoons and weekends walking dogs.

Last week I read this article in The New York Times that highlighted college kids during their first week in school, and then followed up with them two semesters later.

It’s cheesy to say of course, but college can be such a transformative time in your life. You’re learning how to be on your own and you’re making your own decisions for the first time. It was fun reading that others feel the same way.

And we’re off!

This morning Josh and I are headed out to Phoenix for a wedding. We haven’t traveled in a long time and this wedding is between two close friends so we’re looking forward to making a trip out of it. Even though we were in Phoenix two years ago, we’re excited to see some new sights. See you next week!
