It seems like we’re all thinking the same thing these days: how can it possibly be August already. Summer has been flying by and I really don’t want to think about how it will be over so soon after we waited so
patiently for it to arrive. So here’s how I’ve been soaking it up.
^In Arena, Wis. at Sugarland for a friend’s wedding.
^Chick trying really hard to survive 4th of July
^Helping One Tail at a Time raise money at Pitchfork
^Listening to Neutral Milk Hotel at Pitchfork
^En route to Wisconsin with Millie (& Chick of course!)
^Unimpressed with me.
^Elevator selfie, naturally.
…we are a two-pup home now!! So naturally, a few more photos to share.
And just for reference: this was Millie when I first met her at Chicago Animal Control. Hard to resist that tiny nugget.
After several people showed interest in Millie (who we were fostering through One Tail at a Time), I found that instead of being happy to see her find a new home, I was feeling seriously bummed that she would be leaving. And I think Josh felt the same way.
Our biggest concern though was making sure Chick would be okay with having a another pup around. She has always been a loner and never shows too much interest in other dogs. After Millie was spayed we saw the tension between the two dissipate and while they aren’t playmates, they are respectful of each other (save for when Millie interrupts Chick on “her” pillow on the couch. We all have our limits).
While it has been a little more work adjusting to walking two pups and getting them out the door (oh how I long for a house with a door to the backyard), it’s also been a lot of fun having two:)
A month may have gone by, but … I’m still here. My lack of posting has a good excuse though: we adopted this tiny houseguest(!). Meet Millie. And then we moved. Yet again to a different unit in our current building. Our previous landlord was ready to sell his condo and we, as it turns out, were not ready to buy it.
So here we are. It seemed to take longer than normal to get settled in this time around, but we’re finally there. The move seemed to be especially tough on those sweet pups as they adjusted to new territory. It’s hard when you don’t know what’s going on! Now that it’s just about the official start of summer, I’m looking forward to lots of park visits with these two.

Over the past week or so, Chick has been an avid user of the CTA, riding along on the El train like she’s been doing it for years. Continue reading
Even though you wouldn’t know it by the weather we had yesterday and today (snow in April, NBD), this past weekend was warm and filled with so much sunshine. So naturally that meant people decided to start setting off fireworks, which Chick sure did not appreciate. Warm weather also meant a bath for her, which she also did not enjoy. So I guess to sum it up, it was a nice weekend, but not for poor Chick:)
