Have you ever thought about how many different animal species there are on Earth? I never really have, until I saw this article about a National Geographic photographer who has made it his goal to photograph every species in zoos and aquariums around the world. Joel Sartore is hoping to bring attention to many species who are already endangered, through his venture called the Biodiversity Project. Pretty neat, right?

I’m supposed to be leaving for Phoenix tomorrow evening for a marketing conference specifically for nonprofits. I’m excited to attend, which is why I’m hoping against hope my sore throat goes away. And stays away! Go away, sore throat! Just go away.

Being an adult is overrated. There are bills to pay, there is money to save, there are things to clean, there are dogs to adopt. How can one do it all? I’ve gotten into the habit of sleeping in as long as possible and saving my workouts until late at night when it feels like the hardest thing in the world to tie my shoes.
After going straight to the grocery store after work (after stopping for a paczki from Oak Mill Bakery, of course), it became clear that I need to get into a better routine and go back to working out in the morning. Spin class at Solao, just a five-minute walk away? Okay. And I’ll complain the whole time, obviously. If you want a good laugh, click here and read. Seriously, it’s too funny.

This holiday is just okay, but I do like the idea of being reminded of the things and people I love. A pooch, some sweet treats, cute valentine cards and of course, family and friends.
Aside from the getting drunk part, I like the idea of a cynical and twisted valentine. Besides who doesn’t love to judge and gossip?

Fortunately, this weekend was fairly relaxing. Friday night was supposed to be a night of pizza and a Godfather marathon (did you know some people have never seen this classic?!), but I somehow got roped into watching the NBA all evening. Saturday saw a lot of errands (the Jeep is CLEAN!) and I was finally able to see Girl with the Dragon Tattoo with my mom, which was so good. Sunday Frasier tried to accompany my dad and I to the Flying Saucer in Humboldt Park, but thanks to a 30 minute wait, Dunkin Donuts–an old stand-by–won out.
