When the month of March just drags on with its unfortunate rain and its rude Daylight Savings trick I want to make like a pup and just curl up on the couch. Is it summer yet? This is Chick’s new favorite spot.

This week will be my last week at my current job. Later this month I’ll be starting a new opportunity at a different company. While it’s bittersweet to leave some great people, I’m excited to be headed toward a brand new experience. So a few days ago I said farewell to a special little pup friend. This big guy is not even two years old and he already weighs 130 lbs. Crazy! But he sure is sweet.
Remember when I complained about all the snow earlier this week? Well, Mother Nature decided to dump some more on us the next day. Fortunately, temperatures are expected to rise this weekend, so here’s hoping that with Spring only a week and a half away, Chicago has turned the corner on warmer weather. That means no more navigating my way around sidewalks half filled with whimper-inducing salt on a pup’s paw.
The past few days I’ve navigated the snow too many times. I mean, it is March after all, and while I know Chicago winters can be nothing short of unpredictable, I think it’s safe to say I’m ready for warmer months. Yesterday I spent a few hours at Chicago Animal Control hanging out with the court case pups, and watching Josh perfect our Badger gallery wall.
I first shared Mickey back in September, when he became a part of One Tail at a Time. I fell for him because he was a sweet old pup and I love a good senior dog. I begged my dad to let him be a new pal for Frasier, but as it turned out, Mickey just needed a hospice home to live out his last few months. And I’m so grateful he was able to do that, instead of ending his life in a shelter. But today sweet Mickey has passed on. Sending my love to you, sweet pup.
